Working Group on Social and Political Aspects of AIDS in Uganda
Occasional seminar Invitation:
If you are a researcher working on HIV and AIDS from a social or political perspective, we welcome you to come to present your work at a seminar for the working group.
We appreciate seminars that share new research during the data collection stage, those that are ongoing and can draw from current experiences in Uganda, and those which have concluded and have findings to disseminate. Nationally-based and internationally-based scholars are welcomed.
The working group will fund these occasional seminars, including the administrative costs, facility fees, and a tea break. There will be no salary or sitting fee paid by the working group.
If you are interested in presenting at CHDC, please contact Jenipher Twebaze as far in advance as possible so that invitations can be issued and everyone can have the opportunity to attend.
Format of occasional seminars:
Typical seminars are held in the afternoon and consist of a presentation of 45 minutes, a 30 minute tea break for networking, and a discussion of approximately an hour, but presenters are welcome to adjust the format to better suit their needs if necessary.
Presenters are welcomed to invite one or two discussants to give commentary on the seminar, but this is not necessary. If presenters would like to have one of the working group researchers as a discussant, this can also be arranged by contacting Jenipher Twebaze.
Please remember that we are a multi-disciplinary working group of academic researchers, policy makers, activists and implementers, so language and presentation should be clear, specific, and free of jargon. Power-point capacity is available but should be requested in advance. CHDC will be glad to make photocopies for hand-outs, but these must be paid for by the presenter.
